DESCRIPTION:Kunstnersamtale\nI forbindelse med utstillingen og neoninstallasjonen Music for Plutocracy inviterer vi til en kunstnersamtale med Anne Katrine Senstad i våre lokaler på Bontelabo 2, lørdag den 23. januar klokken 14.00\nInstallasjonskunsten  består av ulike enkeltstående elementer som danner et hele. Arkitektur, elektrisitet, akryl, neonlys, farger og et ledsagende lydbilde av komponisten JG Thirlwell. Vi omsluttes av sansestimuli i stadig nye opplevelser av rom. De intense fargene vi befinner oss i oppleves fysisk, som en nevrologisk impuls, og den kjennes som et påtagelig nærvær i og ved oss.\nMusikken er på tilsvarende måte intens, og tilbyr en sfærisk og omsluttende dimensjon, i en komposisjon av frapperende støysekvenser, klikk, knepp, strøm, og knapt hørbare overtoner.\nAnne Katrine Senstad\nSenstad vokste opp i både Singapore og Norge. I dag bor hun mellom New York i USA og Oslo. Hun har sin kunstfaglige utdannelse fra institusjoner som University of California i Berkeley, Parsons School of Design, New York og New School for Social Research, New York.\nGjennom de siste tiårene har hun vist sine mange og svært ulike kunstneriske arbeider, prosjekter og installasjoner i gallerier og på festivaler, biennaler og triennaler i land og byer som i New York, hvor hun holder hus til daglig, Shenzhen i Kina, Jeddah i Saudi-Arabia, Venezia i Italia, Brügge i Belgia, Beirut i Libanon, Buenos Aires i Argentina, og Tallin i Estland, med videre, og selvsagt i Oslo og Bergen her i Norge. I juni skal Senstad også stille ut i Finnland.\nSenstad har mottatt arbeidsstipend og annen økonomisk støtte til sitt virke fra organisasjoner og foreninger som Norsk Kulturråd, Office for Contemporary Art Norway, Forbundet Frie Fotografer, Norske Billedkunstnere, Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond, Design og Arkitektur Norge, og Foundation for Contemporary Art i New York, USA.\nUtstillingen er støttet av Norsk Kulturråd – Fond for lyd og bilde, og fra Billedkunstnernes Vederlagsfond\n\nArtist talk\nIn connection with the exhibition and the neon installation Music for Plutocracy, we invite you to an artist talk with Anne Katrine Senstad in our premises at Bontelabo 2, Saturday 23 January at 14.00 hrs.\nThe installation consists of various individual elements that form a whole. Architecture, electricity, acrylic, neon lights, colors and an accompanying soundscape by composer JG Thirlwell. We are surrounded by sensory stimuli in constantly new experiences of space. The intense colors are physically experienced as a neurological impulse, and felt as a tangible presence in and around us.\nThe music is similarly intense, offering a spherical and enveloping dimension, in a composition of striking noise sequences, clicks, snaps, and barely audible overtones.\nAnne Katrine Senstad\nSenstad grew up in both Singapore and Norway. Today she lives between New York in the USA and Oslo. She has her art education from institutions such as the University of California at Berkeley, the Parsons School of Design, New York and the New School of Social Research, New York.\nOver the last decades she has shown her many and very different artistic works, projects and installations in galleries and at festivals, biennials and triennials in countries and cities such as in New York, where she lives and works, Shenzhen in China, Jeddah in Saudi -Arabia, Venice in Italy, Bruges in Belgium, Beirut in Lebanon, Buenos Aires in Argentina, and Tallinn in Estonia, and of course in Oslo and Bergen here in Norway. In June, Senstad will also exhibit in Finland.\nSenstad has received work grants and other financial support for his work from organizations and associations such as the Norwegian Cultural Council, the Office for Contemporary Art Norway, the Association of Free Photographers, Norwegian Visual Artists, the Visual Artists’ Aid Fund, Design and Architecture Norway, and the Foundation for Contemporary Art in New York.
