Mike Simi works to create beauty. His artwork is creatively simple and subtly subversive. Sculptures ultimately become troublemakers, denying themselves their original functions while barely able to operate with their new identity. Although confused, these objects continue to push on, working towards a new unknown purpose. Simi recognizes the conflict hidden amongst his works, and believes that conflict can be a form of beauty, a place of honest communication. He has shown recently at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, Washington, and the Charlotte Street Foundation LaEsquina Gallery, Kansas City, Missouri. Future exhibitions include: Threewalls in Chicago, Illinois and a solo exhibition at SEASON, Seattle, Washington. He recently finished a residency at Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle Washington, and is currently a resident artist at S12 in Bergen, Norway. Mike Simi lives in Chicago, Illinois.
