Sammenkoblinger
Martin Woll Godal
The exhibition Sammenkoblinger (Connects) opens at S12 Gallery and Studio this Friday. Hundreds of ceramic modules have found their way into the gallery. The windows are covered by funnels with small peepholes, which give you the opportunity to view the world in a new and interesting way.
Martin Woll Godal works mainly with installations and ceramic modules. The basis of his work is an interest in the aesthetic and conceptual possibilities he finds in the intersection between architecture and sculpture. He examines the relationship between art and aesthetics, architecture and sculpture and the relationship between space and body.
The use of space, surface, form, rhythm and movement makes his work aesthetically beautiful and challenges the perception of gravity. Even though the material he uses is solid and not transparent, the totality seems delicate and light-flooded.
In the exhibitions main work, Sammenkoblinger( Connects) Woll Godal has highlighted the underlying structure of a brick wall, namely the joints that hold it all together. By focusing on the construction material as adornment, he wants to study the adornments potential to form rhythmic progression and new patterns of movement.
Martin Woll Godal will take part in The Creative Sunday School in S12 the 23 and 30 of September. Children will get the opportunity to meet the artist and build their own artwork in ceramic blocks.
