Exhibition + Artist in Residence

Young & Loving!
S12 Gallery and Workshop, Bergen, Norway

S12 is a gallery and open-access workshop specialising in experimental approaches to glass in art and design. We welcome artists who explore the material in broad and inventive ways, whether working solely in glass or combining it with other media. Alongside our exhibition programme, we run an international Artist in Residence program for artists who are interested in pushing the boundaries of the material.

Our gallery space focuses on sculptural and  installation-based work that incorporates glass or reveals it from a fresh perspective. For more information about our exhibitions, visit s12.no/en/exhibitions.

Young & Loving! has been held fifteen times since our opening in 2007. The exhibition focuses on artists of any age who have graduated from a university programme within the last five years. The title is a playful take on the Norwegian phrase “ung og lovende” (“young and promising”), and reflects our interest in artists who are genuinely curious about glass and eager to challenge how the material can be used, understood and experienced. Previous exhibitors can be seen here: https://www.s12.no/en/young-and-loving/

We are looking for artists and works to be a part of the 15th Young & Loving exhibition in the fall of 2026. We invite proposals from artists who have graduated in the last five years, and who work with glass – alone or in combination with other materials. Proposals should centre on a specific artwork or installation for the exhibition.

Residency Opportunity
One selected artist will be offered a 2–3 week residency at S12. This residency may be used to create new work for the exhibition or to explore materials and processes more broadly. Please indicate in your application if you would like to be considered for the residency. More information about our AiR programme is available at: https://www.s12.no/en/air-i-s12/
