Tuva Gonsholt

Tuva Gonsholt (b. 1976) lives and works in Skien. She is educated at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School and Design, on Bornholm, Denmark, and has worked with various glassblowers and designers in both Norway and Denmark. Gonsholt is behind several public art commissions and acquisitions, including at the National Museum, KODE, Nordenfjelske Museum of Decorative Arts, Europäisches Museum für Moderne Glas (DE), and Musèe Du Verre – Charleroi (BE). Gonsholt has participated in various solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including the Annual Exhibition (årsutstillingen) (NO), European Prize for Applied Arts (BE), and Collect (UK). She has received numerous grants and several awards for her work.

During her residency in S12 Tuva worked on her ART project, where she studies insects from a micro perspective. From a specific area at the edge of a forest where she lives, she captures species and collects data for her studies. Nature observations are placed in an artistic context. Inspired by small creatures, their way of life and their role in nature, she experimented with opaque colours, shapes and tactile surfaces.

The residency was supported by the Alexander Tutsek Stiftung.
