Madelen Isa Lindgren
Madelen Isa Lindgren (b. 1990, Norway) is an artist whose practice draws on the cycles and formations of the natural world, viewed through archaeological traces and speculative futures. Working with sculpture, using glass, metal and leather, Lindgren creates hybrid forms inspired by organic and cosmic processes. Cocoons, shields, and tentacle-like structures recur in her work as protective vessels that preserve and transmit knowledge across time. Her practice unfolds as a cyclical archive where myths, symbols, and living systems intersect.
Lindgren was one of the recipients of the Pilchuck Glass School summer program 2025, granted by Norwegian Crafts, and was selected for the Venice Glass Week 2025 . She holds a BA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and an MFA from the Faculty of Fine Art in Bergen. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Norwegian Sculptors Society, Podium, and venues in Berlin, Athens, and Venice.
The residency at S12 marks the beginning of a new research project in which she explores the coin as both an object of power dynamics and a carrier of belief and symbols.
This project was funded by the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung.
