Peter Sutton
Peter Sutton is a British painter and a glass artist, who has been living in Norway since 2001. Sutton has a degree in Architectural Glass from Swansea College of Art, UK, and he has had many commissions both nationally and internationally.
For Sutton glass is all about light and colour. He works with large and small scale, site-specific commissioned glass works, for architecture. His work can be situated both inside and outside, integrated with wall surfaces, or glass facades. He also creates independent artworks for exhibition and sale.
His work is about the interaction of given light within a space, and the interaction of the viewer. The intensity of his compositions changes with light, and the variable angle or distance of view from which they are seen. He composes his work around the consequences of light reacting with glass.
In September 2023 Peter Sutton was an artist in residence in S12, where he made a site specific wall piece for the exhibition, Behold. In this work titled “Mountain” his background from painting and glass merges together, as he is playing with light and shadows by drawing his own shadows underneath the glass objects, creating a unique and captivating visual experience.
