“Life could be considered to have been born as a microbe and has continued for many hundred million years to evolve through time. Through this evolution life has continued to mutate within many living creatures such as flowers and animals. I consider myself to be just one of these living beings and am fascinated by the fact that this evolutionary process is extremely precarious. In many ways it is surprising that we all exist at all. I feel real pleasure when I consider this fact. I am trying to express this feeling in my sculptural works.
I have chosen to use glass as a material as it is suitable to show this transitory theme as it is fragile like the natural cycle of life.
I am staying at Bergen as an artist in residency for a month. In this show I am making some works inspired by the experiences in Bergen.”
