Alli Hoag was in S12 during the period of August 2013 – August 2014 in a combined role as an Artist in Residence and Work Shop manager.
She used her period in S12 to create new works for her 2014 solo exhibition “The Distance of the Moon”, in Agnes Varis Art Center at UrbanGlass, Brooklyn, NY.
Alli started working across sound, sculpture and performance with the Icelandic performance artist and pianist Tinna Thorsteinsdottir, while in S12. Their first collaboration was in S12 with the performance “Cry Piano” in 2013. Since then their cooperation has developed into a collaborative known as Bylta. Bylta has performed their work Sending both at UrbanGlass in Brooklyn, NY, at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk VA, as well as at the Glass Art Society Conference in 2017.
Her work involves installations exploring the blurred line between the real and imagined experience utilizing glass and mixed media. After completing her MFA at Alfred University in 2012, she served the past year as Adjunct Professor at Alfred University teaching Sculpture and Glass. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and is currently working toward her 2014 solo exhibition at Urbanglass, in Brooklyn, NY.
She serves as Head of the Glass Program and Assistant Professor at Bowling Green State University.
