Baptiste Debombourg is an innovative artist who are pushing boundaries, exploring various media and collaborating with artists from other fields, architects and fashion designers. He is living and working in Paris and has studied sculpture at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and post-graduated at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In France, he is one of the most outstanding young artists of his generation with numerous public presentations at home and abroad. He has built installations in cities such as Paris, Strasbourgh, Miami, Québec and Sarajevo, and will soon present a new one in Le Havre for their 500th anniversary.

During his residency in S12 he created an installation for the exhibition:

RAGING DREAMS over the horizon

Debombourg has received international attention for his monumental installations. Waves of broken glass are breaking in to and flooding rooms and structures, taking over and transforming buildings and areas. The work can be experienced as both threatening and beautiful as he is both destroying and rebuilding.  The broken and reconstructed materials can convey many stories and is often interpreted as a critique of the world we live in – of consumerism or a world in the process of falling apart.

In S12 Baptiste Debombourg has made a brand-new installation– where the energy and power of dreams are a central theme. Debombourg is normally working with different materials and techniques, but prefers the ones we are surrounded by in our daily life. In this installation, remodeled sheets of broken laminated glass, reminding us of the destructive abilities of natural forces, are taking over the gallery. Through his unique and eye catching artworks he is making the viewer experience the surroundings in a different way.
