Nielsen was an AiR in February 2014, and the result of his stay was included in the exhibition +46 708420971 which opened February 14th that year.

Fredrik Nielsen is described as a rebel with a critical approach to glass art. Inspired by popular culture he includes graffiti, music, video and performance in his work. His sculptures have a raw and unfinished expression much different from the aesthetics found in European glassmaker traditions.  Largely experimental, his works defy the notion of smooth finishes and balanced forms, often appearing unfinished and rough around the edges, sometimes even incorporating other elements such as car paint to recreate the energy experienced by the artist while making the work.

Fredrik Nielsen lives and works in Stockholm. He has studied at Orrefors Glass School, Pilchuck Glass School and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Nielsen’s work has been exhibited internationally, and can be found in the collection of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm (2010), Corning Museum of Glass and several private collections in Europe and the US.
